Nearby historic settlements of Holywell, Mold, and Chester provide other cultural opportunities to suit all tastes.

Basingwerk Abbey

Basingwerk Abbey is a Grade I listed ruined abbey near Holywell, Flintshire, Wales. The abbey, which was founded in the 12th century, belonged to the Order of Cistercians. It maintained significant lands in the English county of Derbyshire.

Greenfield Valley Heritage Park

Greenfield Valley Heritage Park is a 70-acre country park in the United Kingdom. It is located near the town of Holywell, in Wales. It is well known for its woodland, reservoirs, ancient monuments, rich industrial past and its factories which played a big part in the Industrial Revolution.

Clwb Cerddwyr Treffynnon
Holywell Rambling Club

Holywell Rambling is one of the oldest rambling clubs in North Wales. It was formed in 1956 as a result of a conversation on a bus journey. This resulted in one the participants, Fred Long, calling a public meeting to form a Rambling Club.

The club is affiliated to the Ramblers’ Association but its walking activities are totally independent. It does however support all the RA objectives and members have and continue to hold posts within the local RA structures.

Mold Market

Mold is proud to be the home of the largest and best remaining street market in North Wales and is held in high esteem by traders and shoppers alike, for the range of goods available alongside its warm traditional Welsh welcome.

Street markets are held in Mold every Wednesday and Saturday throughout the year with over 70 stalls in the High Street and through to Daniel Owen Square. There’s a huge variety of produce including fresh fruit and vegetables, cheese, meat, crockery, clothes and plants – whatever you need, you’ll find it on the market!
